Volunteer Coordinator
Board SeatPosition Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, organizes, and supports the volunteers who power Pride Halton's events and programming. This role owns the volunteer experience end-to-end — from recruitment through event-day execution — ensuring Pride Halton has the people it needs, when it needs them.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding

- Assign roles based on volunteer skills, availability, and event needs
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers on event day; troubleshoot gaps or no-shows in real time
Retention & Recognition
- Foster a positive, inclusive volunteer experience that encourages people to return
- Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions (shout-outs, thank-you events, etc.)
- Gather feedback after events to improve future volunteer coordination

- Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable managing people and schedules under time pressure
- Ability to commit necessary time (variable; heaviest during event season)
- Halton-area ties preferred, not required
- Lived experience within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community welcomed and valued
Term
Board seat, renewable annually. Time commitment increases significantly in the weeks around major events.
Marketing & Communications Lead
Board SeatPosition Summary
The Marketing & Communications Lead owns Pride Halton's public voice and marketing strategy end-to-end. This role sets the direction for how Pride Halton shows up publicly — across digital, media, and community channels — and is accountable to the Board for results, not just activity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Ownership
- Set the marketing and communications strategy for the year, aligned with Board priorities
- Own the content calendar, campaign planning, and channel strategy
- Make final calls on messaging, creative direction, and campaign timing
Campaigns & Promotion
- Lead marketing campaigns for events (Pride festival, flag raisings, fundraisers, etc.) from concept to results
- Own email newsletters and community announcements
- Track performance and adjust strategy based on results
Brand & Messaging
- Set and protect Pride Halton's brand, tone, and messaging standards across all materials
- Author or approve press releases, media requests, and public statements
- Ensure all communications reflect and represent the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
Leadership & Collaboration
- Direct volunteers or contributors supporting marketing execution, where applicable
- Partner with event leads and committee chairs, bringing marketing strategy to the table
- Report outcomes and strategic recommendations to the Board
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership in marketing, communications, or brand strategy (nonprofit, agency, or in-house)
- Comfortable setting strategy and making independent creative and messaging decisions
- Strong writing skills and fluency with digital tools (Canva, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, etc.)
- Demonstrated commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and community wellbeing
- Ability to commit necessary time (heaviest around campaigns and events)
- Halton-area ties preferred, not required
- Lived experience within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community welcomed and valued
Term
Board seat position, 1–2 year renewable term. Requires attendance at monthly board meetings, the AGM, key events, and committee work, in addition to marketing leadership duties.
