PRISM Halton Is Now Officially Pride Halton

PRISM Halton is proud to announce that we have officially changed our name to Pride Halton.
This change reflects our growth, our mission, and our commitment to serving the entire 2SLGBTQIA+ community across the Halton Region. When we first launched as PRISM Halton, we were a small group of volunteers with a bold vision: to create a space where 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Halton could connect, celebrate, and feel seen.
Over the years, that vision has grown. We've hosted flag raisings, community picnics, drag shows, holiday markets, and — for the past three years — the region's only Pride parade. We've welcomed thousands of community members, dozens of sponsors, and civic leaders from across Milton, Burlington, Oakville, and Georgetown. We've become a recognizable name in the region, and with that recognition comes a responsibility to be clear about who we are and what we stand for.
Pride Halton is a name that speaks for itself. It tells you what we do and where we do it. It's welcoming, it's proud, and it's unmistakable. It also aligns us with Pride organizations across Canada and around the world — from Pride Toronto to Fierté Canada Pride — while keeping our unique Halton identity at the centre of everything we do.
What stays the same
Our mission, our values, and our community remain unchanged. We are still a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization. We are still committed to year-round programming through PRIDE365. And we are still rooted in the same grassroots energy that started it all.
Our founder and Executive Director, Melanie Tremills, continues to lead the organization. Our board, volunteers, and community partners remain the same. What's changed is simply our name — and the clarity it brings to our mission.
What's next
As Pride Halton, we're looking ahead to our biggest year yet. Planning is already underway for our fourth annual Pride parade and Pride in the Park celebration. New partnerships are forming. New programs are being developed. And the energy in our community has never been stronger.
If you've been with us since the PRISM days, thank you. If you're just discovering us now, welcome. Either way, we're proud to be Pride Halton — and we can't wait to celebrate with you.
